The Town

The Town

Wingham, first settled in 1853, is a heritage town clearly evident with its many National Trust listed Federation and Victorian buildings that surround the town square.

Wingham is a special town, located in the heart of the Manning Valley and servicing a wide country area; a busy little precinct which has many drawcard attractions and events, a strong community spirit and a long and intriguing history with many of the families and tribes still thriving in the area, with many stories to tell.

A stunning backdrop of mountains skirt the settlement, with blankets of lush farmland surrounding and only a 25 minute drive to the nearest beach of Old Bar. Jump back on to the highway to the the coastal towns of Hallidays Point/Forster-Tuncurry or head north to Harrington and Crowdy Head, and these are perfect day trips from your Wingham base.

We encourage you to shop and buy local to support our community on all levels.

Wingham is a great stop on your journey when you are meandering up or down the north coast to/from Port Macquarie, or Forster/Tuncurry a 40 minute drive away, or trekking through into the central west of Walcha, Tamworth & Armidale.

Nearby Taree is also only a short drive away and a large regional town servicing the Manning Valley and surrounds, built along the mighty Manning River and has the major stores along with plenty of small operator and specialist stores.
